Sykes Takes BSB Double For Kawasaki
In a similar move to last year, Paul Bird's WSB Kawasaki squad came to Brands to get some extra track time and confidence boost before the final push of the season begins. Broc Parkes gave Leon Camier a run for hismoney last year, and Tom Sykes did even better this year, defeating all comers in both of Sunday's dry races. Only Kiyonari could run with him, but was never near enough to make a move on the ZX10R mounted Yorkshireman. Michael Rutter had taken a brilliant pole, but couldn't compete for the win in the dry, although he kept Alistair Seeley close in Saturdays wet race.

Crutchlow takes double victory and claims Silverstone for Yamaha
Yamaha Sterilgarda World Superbike YZF-R1 rider Cal Crutchlow made it two in a row today at Silverstone, delivering the double win at his home race. The British rider ended a flawless weekends riding with a masterful display of race craft. A good start from pole position in race one saw him quickly into second behind Johnny Rea. Crutchlow then played the waiting game, comfortably following the Honda rider just 0.1 seconds behind until mid race before taking the lead. He surrendered briefly to Rea but then re-took quickly and pulled away to build a 1.6 second lead as he crossed the line to claim his maiden win of the championship.

BSB Round 6 Knockhill 04-07-10
THE BLADE REIGNS IN THE WET
Michael Rutter riding The RidersMotorcycles.Com Ducati notched up his second victory in two seasons at an incident packed first race at the BSB meeting held last weekend at Knockhill in Scotland. As race one got away, pole-man Josh Brookes on his HM Plant Honda shot into the lead ahead of James Ellison's Swan Honda in second place who was almost immediately passed by Michael Rutter at Leslie's. Brookes forged ahead to take a 1 sec lead but by the end of the second lap the rain became so heavy that the race was red flagged due to the dangerous conditions

Double Win And One/Two For HM Plant Honda At Mallory
The HM Plant Honda team celebrated its best results of the season so far at the fifth round of the British Superbike Championship at Mallory Park today, as Ryuichi Kiyonari doubled up on race wins, just ahead of team-mate Josh Brookes who took two second places. Ryuichi Kiyonari put his bid for the British Superbike crown firmly back on track as the Japanese rider put on an impressive performance to head off his team mate Josh, as well as the following pack.

Ian Hutchinson wins the PokerStars Superbike TT after McGuiness and Cummins drop out
Ian Hutchinson won a drama-filled and heavily delayed PokerStars Superbike race today. The Padgetts Honda rider came home over 33 seconds clear of Michael Dunlop with Cameron Donald clawing his way back from 13th to claim third. Manxman Conor Cummins seemingly had the race in the bag and, after a stunning opening lap of 131.511mph, just a whisker outside the outright lap record, had a commanding 21 second lead at the end of the fourth lap but problems at the second pit stop saw that whittled down to four seconds and he was soon reported as a retirement at Laurel Bank.
BSB Round 5 Cadwell Park 23-05-10
HM Plant riders share the spoils at their local track
The HM Plant Honda team celebrated a double victory at today's British Superbike Championship races at Cadwell Park, with Ryuichi Kiyonari and Josh Brookes taking one race a piece and their first victories at the Lincolnshire circuit whilst producing exciting racing action. Kiyonari, sporting a new 'shaved' hair cut for the weekend, started from fourth on the grid in the opening race of the day to take the hole shot off the line and edge out a lead over his chasing rivals but, with three laps remaining he ran wide onto the grass and Hall Bend.

Weymouth and Mercer serve up a classic at lap record pace
The British Motorcycle Racing Club put on another exciting, well-organised, action packed race meeting on The Brands Hatch GP Circuit last weekend. The classes were well supported with many new faces and some not so new. By far the most interesting racing was always going to be The MRO Morello Powerbike Class where the more established and experienced riders were in competition for honours. Regulars such as Peter Baker, Barry Chapman, Steve Mercer and Andy Weymouth all very capable racers plus newcomers to The Powerbike scene such as current Stock leader and last seasons Rookie 600 Champion Dan Johnson were all going to be looking for race wins. And so it turned out.

Haslam hangs on to title lead as Biaggi increases the pressure
If there is any doubt about Leon Haslam's capability of dealing with the pressure of leading the World SBK Championship by a few points, his cheerful demeanour is a good indicator. Biaggi is four times 250cc world champ,he has not only beaten Valentino Rossi in MotoGP races,he almost took the premier biking championship from Mick Doohan in his rookie year (1998). Experience of racing at the top he has plenty of. Haslam had not won a world level event before this year. Yet here he is, holding off the hard charging Italian, and behaving as if it's all no big deal. This maturity is transferring to his performances on the race track.

TOMMY HILL EXTENDS BSB CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD - Worx Crescent Suzuki PR
Tommy Hill took second and third place finishes at Oulton Park today to significantly extend his lead in the British Superbike Championship. His Worx Crescent Suzuki team-mate Yukio Kagayama was unfortunately the victim of a race one accident that also left him unable to take part in race two. For Hill it was another day of strong performances. In race one rival Stuart Easton led off the line and while Hill was never more than three-tenths of a second behind, Easton's late-braking style prevented a pass. At the finish Hill was just 0.058-seconds adrift.

Rea looms large in Haslam's rear view mirror in race for title
Jonny Rea completed a classy double on Ten Kate Honda's home track in Northern Holland, and went from also ran to title contender in the space of a warm Dutch afternoon. Alstare Suzuki's Leon Haslam had a horrible first race with a deflating front tyre making life nigh on impossible. The fact that Haslam brought it home in 11th says it all about the caliber of the man. How many other riders would have carried on to the end, let alone beat race winners like Fabrizio and Guintoli on a flat ? He brought it home in a safe 2nd in race 2 to make sure he left Assen with a respectable points haul, still 20 points ahead of nearest rival Biaggi in the championship.
Neil Hodgson Retires from Racing
Rob Mac Racing Press Release April 22, 2010
This decision has not come easy and it was only yesterday Wednesday 21st that an examination in Manchester by a leading shoulder specialist made clear the amount of damage done and the time scale needed to recover. The 2000 BSB Champion and 2003 World Superbike Champion started the 2010 BSB season as one of the favourites, with the Motorpoint Yamaha Neil had a successful winter test and was relishing the challenge of returning to his old hunting ground and battling with some of the new names in the most competitive domestic superbike series in the world. A crash at the first round aggravated the shoulder injury and set back all the hard work he had done. For the last three weeks Neil has undergone a series of tests and seen several specialists hoping for a positive direction, but after yesterday's results the reality hit and he has had to make the difficult decision to retire from the sport.

Race craft is the difference for title leader Tommy Hill
Tommy Hill has taken command of the BSB series with a mature performance aboard the Worx Crescent Suzuki GSXR1000, backing up a win in Race 1 with a safe 2nd in Race 2. The Race 1 lead see-sawed between the top 4 throughout the scintillating 20 laps, with Swan Hondas solitary rider, Stuart Easton taking an early lead. Time and again the pursuing Worx Suzukis looked poised to take the lead at the Club chicane, with Kagayama getting more than a bike length lead on the top gear Woodham Hill approach, but Easton repeatedly responded on the brakes to hold them off.

Worx Crescent Suzuki's Tommy Hill leads the 2010 British Superbike championship after a win and a second place at round one at Brands Hatch today.Hill yesterday qualified second fastest and he used the front row start to great effect today in race one, shadowing rival Ryuichi Kiyonari for two-thirds distance before passing and making good the race win. In race two he closely followed James Ellison but in view of their very fast pace and the complications of passing lappers on the tight track elected to take a safe second place finish to secure the championship lead.

Ron Haslam Race School 2010 31-03-10
The Honda backed Haslam Race School opened for business on a cold and blustery day at Silverstone today. After their long term venue Donington was seriously messed up by the failed Formula 1 plans of Simon Gilletts cash strapped company, the School had to find a new home. Silverstone has obliged and this year's dates have been confirmed - next date is April 27th. The track layout is a new one on me. Known as the Southern circuit, it incorporates the Hangar straight, Stowe, Vale and Club, and then turns right at Abbey and goes into the new arrow head at the Arena, before returning to the Straight with a new right hander.

The Motorpoint Yamaha team started their season preparations in the Spanish sunshine, a 7 day test incorporating two circuits will give the Yamaha duo of Neil Hodgson and Dan Linfoot plenty of track time ahead of the season opener at Brands Hatch (on April 5). Cartagena will be the first circuit before the teams move onto Guadix later in the week, both circuits are typical of the Spanish design, specifically built around smaller bikes they prove to be very physical which is ideal for getting the boy's back into bike shape and sharpening their focus!

Haslam on top of the world after dominating down under
If Leon Haslam can keep the level of faultless performance he delivered at Phillip Island this weekend going, not only will he be World Superbike champion come October, he will be the next Brit to move up to MotoGP. The Pocket Rocket from Derbyshire looks like he is ready to take the factory Alstare Suzuki all the way, with only the Xerox Ducatis looking capable of keeping up over the season.
Save Donington Event - 7 March 2010
Haslam Race School hopes to have answers
IT seems the motorsport community in the UK has not realised the gravity of the mess the Formula 1 balls up has left the Donington track in. As well as the spectator areas looking like a giant motorcross circuit, the track has large sections cut out of it. The estimates of what its going to cost to put right are varied, but £600,000 seems to be an agreed minimum figure. The first event to try and save Donington is on March 7th.
Yamaha MotoGP Teams complete a successful second day of testing in Malaysia 05-02-10
Valentino Rossi led the way for the second day running in Sepang today, concluding the first test of the year on top of the standings. His Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo was also on the pace today, finishing the test third fastest behind Casey Stoner. Rain this morning meant the track did not fully dry out until lunchtime and it was after one o'clock before Rossi left the garage on his 2010 YZR-M1. The World Champion, who turns 31 in ten days time, completed 32 laps and set a best time of 2'00.925, only half a second slower than the record pole time for the track, which he set last year.
Steve Mercer - Road Racings Best Newcomer 2009

2009 has been an up and down year for the 26 year old Maidstone based bike racer Steve Mercer. It started with a familiar tale of woe; the Superstock ride he thought he had in place for the season fell through, and he has been off the short circuit race scene all year as a result. But he also had a ride lined up on the roads with The Peoples Bike, a team funded by members of the public paying £50 to have their photo on the bike fairing. The idea worked remarkably well and funded a well sorted Superstock spec Suzuki GSXR1000 to go to Olivers Mount three times, as well as the Isle of Man TT, the Ulster GP and the Southern 100. Steve has paid them back with some excellent performances, winning the best newcomer award at the TT in the Superbike and Superstock races, and the Southern 100, where he finished 11th in a quality field.

Pat Herron takes the title!!!
An exciting season decider was marred by bad weather and a tragic accident at one of Lydden's notorious "zero run-off" corners. We have two exclusive reports from two of the series stalwarts
It was a rollercoaster weekend at Lydden, with close racing in difficult conditions, a shortened programme on Sunday thanks to mother natures best efforts to wash the circuit away, and tragedy on Saturday. The final round of the season was marked by the sad death of Roy Parbury, who was caught up in one of those horrible multi-bike first lap incidents where there's nearly zero in the way of margin of error. RIP Roy, YPM no.35, and deepest condolences to sons John and Mark, and the rest of the Parbury family. Mike Smith (YPVS350) came into the weekend looking like a certain champion, with a comfortable 31 point lead over Pat Herron (also YPVS350), but the tricky semi-dry turning decidedly more damp conditions proved to be a major test for the whole field in the Paul Hogan trophy race.

WSB Portimao Final Round Portugal 25-10-09
Spies takes title as Xerox Ducati team work fails Nori Haga
Poor old Nori. Everyone likes the Japanese enigma, for his fabulous riding style if nothing else. That outrageous move at Hockenheim on the R7 is reason enough to love him, but Nori has always been up there, bar one or two seasons- the Aprilia year wasn't great, nor was the MotoGP entry in 2001. But for years he rode a Yamaha two inches from the rear wheel of Bayliss' Ducati, consistently battling for the race win on Sunday. So many of us Nori fans felt this was the year, the best chance since Y2K and the slimming supplement scandal that robbed of him of 45 points and a deserved WSB title. He looked rigid with tension before the first race, as they baked in the Portuguese heat on the grid. Spies was by contrast looking cool, relaxed and in command of the task at hand. With a 10 point deficit and massive advantage in wins, equal points would suffice should they have needed to count back, the title would be Spies.

Eurosport miss Saturdays race of the year
They've had a hard time keeping the excitement levels up this season, but Eurosport really pushed the boat out this weekend, with very little reward. Seeing as it was the last meeting of the year and we were being treated to an extra Sbk race on Saturday, the French broadcaster devoted a few hours on Saturday, and then 5 hours uninterrupted coverage on Sunday to live BSB. Which is always a perilous gamble. Having given us the extra treat of qualifying on Saturday, we were well installed come 3.15 when the first Sbk race proper was due to begin. Off they went with Tommy Hill and Stuart Easton taking the battle to the Airwaves Yamahas, with feeling. Tommy looked really quick and hungry, and the top five broke away in no time. Gowland went down and his bike went hurtling over the barriers, inches from an unflappable photographers head. Just as we were settling in for a barnstormer, Hill took the lead and ran wide at Shell Oils, and in so doing clipped Karl Harris, who was having his best race of the year. He crashed into the tyre wall hard, out came the red flag and the excitement balloon went flat with a horrible raspberry noise.

Camier takes BSB title with 4 races to go
Try as he might, Camier could not make a pass stick in Race2, running up Ellison's inside three times on the brakes into Abbey, and each time running wide as the bumps unsettled the back end. He does look like the finished article now, any misfortune like running off track being little impediment as he rushed through the pack to the sharp end, much like Shakey did last year on a few occasions on the Ducati. There was encouragement for some of the pack, particularly Tommy Hill who bagged two fifths on his first time out on the Hydrex Honda. But Guintoli was disappointing, clearly still feeling the broken leg and visibly limping. He should take the fight to Ellison next year, along with the two Hydrex men, Simon Andrews has been getting quicker all year on the Kawasaki, and there may well be some returning heroes like Hodgson and possibly Shakey and Tom Sykes to spice things up.

Easton bags first BSB win for Hydrex Honda
Its taken a long time but finally Scotsman Stuart Easton took his first ever British Superbike win at Croft. There's no doubt Leon Camier helped him by running off track on lap 3, but Easton has been the only consistent challenger to the dominant Airwaves Yamahas this year. I thought he would mount a title challenge, but its been apparent that the GSE R1s are a class apart this year, so he's got to be reasonably pleased with his season. You just have to look at the names he beat to see everyone is struggling to keep up.

CHAPTER CLOSED ON CAMIER DISQUALIFICATION - GSE Group statement
Airwaves Yamaha has today (Tuesday 1st September 2009) released further details regarding the disqualification of its rider Leon Camier from Race Two at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday. On the 18th and final lap, race leader Leon was shown the black and orange flag as smoke was seen to come from his bike. Mistakenly believing he had until the end of the lap to come in to the pits, Leon continued on to take the chequered flag. The Championship leader was disqualified for the infringement and his teammate James Ellison, who was in 2nd, awarded the win. After a thorough inspection, it has since been discovered that the oil cooler of Leon's bike had rubbed on the exhaust, causing smoke.

WSB Round 3 Assen 26-04-09
Spies highside gifts Haga 60 point lead in championship
Assen delivered two great races on a warm spring day, but a mistake by Ben Spies in Race 2 led to a boring procession, with Haga way out in front and in full control. It was a great shame; if Spies hadn't highsided on lap 2, having run fractionally wide onto the astorturf, we would probably have had 3 great races to remember. Race 1 was superb with Spies looking beaten at half distance, but he rallied and forced his way back past Leon Haslam and Haga at the fastest spot on the track. Seeing as Haga looked untouchable through the fifth gear approach to the final chicane throughout the race, this really was a mind-blowingly bold maneuver.

Snetterton Trackday - No Limits - 30-03-09
Snetterton is lots of fun. The section between the chicane at the end of the long Revett straight (max speed 135 mph on my ZX6-R ) and the Russels chicane is a hoot. The chicane is technical in that if you fly into the first left hand part, you are too fast for the tight second right hander, which you need to power out of, towards the Bomb Hole. Then Corams Curve is a lovely long sweeper, where I made a few super satisfying passes round the outside before anchoring up for Russells. Unfortunatley someone dropped a sump of oil all over Riches (at the top of the main straight) at the start of the afternoon, and very few were brave enough to go through the dust that covered it for the remainder of the day. Shame, because that is another lovely fast corner

Is this true?

With the BMCRC (Bemsee) racing season due to kick off on the 7th of March, the hugely popular Mz class would like to announce the rebranding of their 'renta' program as 'The Mz Experience'. To be honest not a great deal has changed with the format as the 'if it's not broken don't try to fix it' seemed to apply but the name 'renta' did not do the scheme justice, what we provide to the fan of motorcycle racing/riding is the opportunity to turn up at some of the best tracks in the country and leave having obtained their racing licence and experienced racing in a national one make series.

IXON REVOLUTION FEVER JACKET
The new Ixon Revolution Fever jacket is without doubt the nicest jacket Ive ever tried on. It is pure quality. The black and white colour scheme is so tasteful I cant see anyone disliking it. Black isn't great for being seen in the dark, but no colour will show up in pitch darkness, its reflective materials that make the difference. It comes with multi-removable layers inside, so its super warm for winter , but can be transformed into a summer jacket. What we loved were the zips going up both arms, which when opened act as vents, allowing a lovely refreshing flow of air onto the wearers back, arms and front.
