Who is Fonsi Nieto2onT focuses on the new boys of WSB - 1st Nieto
Nephew of 13 times World Champion, Spanish racing legend Angel Nieto, Fonsi started racing on a pocket bike as a teenager, winning the Madrid Championship in 1994, and moving to win the Junior 125 Spanish and Catalan titles in 1995. National Spanish champion several times in his first racing years, Fonsi made his world championship debut in 1999. In 2002 he was the closest challenger to Marco Melandri for the 250 world title, winning 5 GPs on the Aprilia. Fonsi has spent his entire race career on two-strokes, so the switch to the Ducati 999 V-twin will mean he will have to adapt his style radically. He was a favourite for the 250 title in 2003, but instead his career went into a decline, which he will be hoping to turn around in the Scuderia-Caracchi NCR team, along with Lorenzo Lanzi.
