BCL Racing - MRO Minitwins 2005 Highlights and all set for 2006
With the tyre warmers of many teams still on cool down from the rigors of the 2005 season, BCL Racing are already finalizing plans for 2006. Let's take a moment or two to reflect on the teams season highlights and what next year has in store, under the careful team management of Geoff Game.
Chris "Fozzy" Foster
34 year old Chris has finished 4th in the championship, and picked up a 3rd place trophy during the season. As the teams number 1 rider his knowledge and race craft has been much appreciated by the fellow riders and spectators alike. Not content with MRO Chris set his visor on the Manx GP this year and scored a fantastic 6th in the newcomers and a 24th in the Seniors. In addition Chris set a fastest lap whilst at the Manx, an impressive set of results in this extremely tough competition.
For 2006 Chris will be carefully considering the option of running either in the MRO Powerbikes, or potentially British Superstock, thus providing greater depth and team exposure in an alternative class.
Final championship position in 2005 was 4th
Robin McKee
As Robin prepares to take a break from racing next year, due to work commitments, he can be well satisfied with his overall final position in the MRO Championship, in this only his second year of racing. Personal bests for Robin include a 5th place at Knockhill and personal best laptimes at each of the rounds that Robin raced at this year. Whilst not in the saddle in 2006, Robin will still be heavily involved in promoting the team, and providing close mentoring to the young up and coming team riders who are now signed with BCL.
Final championship position in 2005 was 14th
Chris "Junior" Maille
18 year old Chris joined the team for the Knockhill round, having previously raced earlier in the season in the Aprilla Superteens. In his first race on the SV650 Chris scored a commendable highest of two 6th places and a 7th, and has concluded the season in 11th place. For 2006, and the prospect of a full season with BCL, we'll see Chris make strong steps forward in both championship standings and points tally.
Final championship position in 2005 was 11th (4 meetings only)
Glynn Davies
21 year old Glynn has previously ridden GP125's, achieving a best result of 3rd place at Silverstone. Glynn joined BCL Racing for the final two rounds of the 2005 season and rapidly stamped his mark on the minitwin with a commendable "first time out" 7th place at Pembrey, and then qualified 8th at Brands Hatch with a 53.2 second lap. Much like Chris Maille we'll see some strong points scoring and top positions from the very fast Reading based youngster as he embarks on a full season in the MRO with BCL Racing.
Final championship position in 2005 was 26th (2 meetings only).
Jak Wright.
17 year old Jak started 2005 suffering from Glandular fever, but still managed a 4th place at the opening round at Snetterton. The recovery from the fever and with races at Brands and Croft saw the 2003 UK Minimoto Champion in the top 10, and then a 4th and 5th at Snetterton. Due to financial reasons Jak was forced to sit out the rounds at Cadwell, Knockhill and Pembrey before gaining a ride with BCL Racing for the final round at Brands on the 15th / 16th October. Jak finished in 7th place in the final race with a stunning lap of 51.786 - only 2 tenths of a second off the lap record - all this after a 4 month lay off. Jak will be in very close contention at the very top of the field in 2006 and with a full season ahead the newest BCL member will deliver without doubt
Final championship position in 2005 was 9th (partial season only)
Andy Brown
Joining the team for 2006 will be Andy, who after a limited rookie 600 season in 2004, which came to an abrupt halt due to injury; he'll be supporting the BCL team with his reporting / PR skills, and in the points as he becomes accustomed to both racing again, and a new bike. Personal best was an 11th place in his first rookie 600cc race.
Whilst the riders are the visible element on the track the team structure extends to a host of helpers (Lyn Game, Jeff, Doug, John and photographer Don Lester) who all collectively ensure that the team fields a highly professional and structured environment - both in the paddock and trackside.
In addition for 2006 Panther marketing will be assisting the team in attracting key sponsorship and publicity for what is arguably the most professionally run and rising star showcase team in the MRO Minitwins championship. Having now established the structure the team are inviting sponsorship from interested parties and would welcome discussions with sponsor contacts. Please contact Andy Brown, or Peter Wilkinson at Panther Marketing in the first instance.
BCL racing are also delighted that 2onT will be covering the team in 2006, we can promise some real action packed racing coming at you!
