The MZ Experience 2009 with Bemsee Fancy going racing but havent got a pot of gold in the attic...the Renta scheme with the Mzs might be the way to go ....
With the BMCRC (Bemsee) racing season due to kick off on the 7th of March, the hugely popular Mz class would like to announce the rebranding of their 'renta' program as 'The Mz Experience'. This has coincided with a restructuring of the British MZ Racing Club with all new committee members and officers being appointed within the club. To be honest not a great deal has changed with the format as the 'if it's not broken don't try to fix it' seemed to apply but the name 'renta' did not do the scheme justice, what we provide to the fan of motorcycle racing/riding is the opportunity to turn up at some of the best tracks in the country and leave having obtained their racing licence and experienced racing in a national one make series. The main changes that were deemed necessary were two completely new bikes built from the ground up with brand new up to date tuned engines capable of winning races, these bikes are being built and looked after by the three main tuners of Mz racing bikes in collaboration, Brain Rogers of CB Racing, Tony Holmshaw, with parts supplied at cost by Martin Baldwin of Burwins racing and with that in mind I must add that the BMZRC makes absolutely no profit from the scheme with only a small amount taken from the fee for the upkeep of the bikes throughout the season
An excerpt from our website (www.bmzrc.org.uk) reads:
The test day usually has around six or seven sessions. You will arrive at around seven in the morning for a cuppa and meet the team. We will give you a run over the bike and it's controls and you will help prepare it for the day. Yes you.. We will give you all the help you need but the idea is to get you up to speed as an MZ racer. That means learning - and doing - it all - from tyre pressures to fuel mix. After the prep it's off to sign on, get the bike sound tested and then the first session of the day. The morning is spent familiarising yourself with the circuit and machine and the racing environment. There will be an MZ/ACU coach on track who will observe you as you lap the circuit and give you some feedback after your sessions. After lunch we will help you smooth out some of the rougher edges and help you prepare for your first race day. You will get some serious one to one attention from your coach, watch how it should be done and ask the million and one questions that will be on your mind. Race days start at the same time (7am) with technical inspection, signing on and bike prep. Then there will be a practice session, a chance to sort out the final adjustments and lines before you go to the line for the first time. Off to the collecting area, out onto the grid! A warm-up lap and then it's wait for the lights to go out and your off!!!!!!! There is a practice session and two races each race day. You will be 'buddied' up with a couple of regulars who will help you be where you need to be at the right time (race days can be hectic) and work with you on your bike and race craft throughout the day. Don't worry - they were first timers once to and they know just how nerve wracking.... and exciting, that first race meeting can be.At the end of the Loooong weekend we hope we will have you hooked and you will be looking for a bike.
At this point I think a general warning should be given, racing a Zed can be seriously addictive, the buzz of racing wheel to wheel while scraping your knee along the track, the camaraderie of the 'Zedders' and the Bemsee paddock, your whole social circle will increase tenfold with new friends. Don't worry if you are sitting there thinking 'am I good enough', with the Mz series we have racers ageing from 18 to 80 (ok 70, but 80 had a nice ring to it), you will always be in a battle with someone on track be it at the front or the back of the grid, obviously I am biased as this will be my sixth season racing a zed, so don't take my word for it, take a chance to live your dream and join the MZ EXPERIENCE.
