Kennaugh 4th at Brands

British Supersport Championship - Brands Indy - 13-04-09
Solid Start for Kennaugh

On Bank Holiday Monday, the Linxcel-Seton Tuning race team made a solid start to the 2009 British Supersport Championship by finishing fourth at Brands Hatch in Kent. The Colchester-based team's sole rider in the series, Hudson Kennaugh, showed fantastic promise for the season ahead by taking provisional pole-position in the first qualifying session, only to miss out on retaining the top-spot by one tenth of a second during session two.

Starting from second-place on the grid, the 28-year-old South African made a great start and battled with rivals Billy McConnell and Steve Platter to finish in a positive fourth-place.

"Fourth place gives us some good points in the bag," said Kennaugh. "The Linxcel-Seton Tuning team have really stepped up over the winter period and it's showed today. We've gelled really well as a team and this will undoubtedly bode well for the remainder of the season.

"The Linxcel-Seton Tuning motorcycle's are really strong, especially in the engine department," so much so that Kennaugh was lapping over half-a-second quicker than his times last year.

Team manager, Phil Seton, said: "It's been a phenomenal start to the season for the Linxcel-Seton Tuning team. We've really opened some eyes within the works teams and, for a privately run outfit, fourth-place is an amazing achievement."

The team's two riders in the British Superstock 600 Championship, Nick Clark and Josh Wainwright, came away with some great positives with which to take to Oulton Park in three weeks time.

Clark dominated his qualifying session and was placed second on the grid whilst team-mate Wainwright was in 15th. During the race, however, Clark was slow off the line which saw him in 9th place by turn two. He then got bogged-down by some slower riders and in his hurry to catch the leaders, crashed at clearways.

"Obviously this wasn't how I wanted to start the season," said 23-year-old Clark, "however, by putting in these lap times, I think that the Linxcel-Seton Tuning team and I have proved we are real championship contenders.

"This gives me great confidence for the next round. Last year I was lapping within a second of the course record at Oulton Park on my own prepared bike. Now, I have the backing of the most progressive team in the series and there is massive potential."

The Linxcel-Seton Tuning will continue their campaign at the next British Superbikes round at Oulton Park 2nd-4th May 2009.

The Linxcel-Seton Tuning would like to extend their gratitude to the following companies for their support in the 2009 season.

Linxcel, Seton Tuning, Panther Security Systems, Standard Precision Engineering, TK Cope Moto, Motul, RST, HM Quickshifters, Esjot, Revolution Signs, GPR, PFM, Venhill, Powerbronze, Solo Corse, R&G, NGK, Dynapro, Lightech, DID, SBS, K-Tech, MCT, Profibre, MHP and Sigma.
