Round 9 Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship - Cadwell Park Linxcel Seton Tuning press release 31st August 2009
Round 9 of the British Supersport Championship proved to be a tough weekend for the Linxcel Seton Tuning race team, which took place at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire
With Hudson Kennaugh no longer associated with the team, Linxcel Seton Tuning's Nick Clark took the opportunity to swap his Superstock 600 machine for the quicker Supersport class machine.
Team manager Phil Seton said: "Nick has been performing well all year in the Superstock 600 Championship, so it was a natural move for us to give him a go on the Supersport machine."
The two qualifying sessions saw Clark placed 28th on the grid and although he made a good start to the race, making up five places on the way, a cold front tyre saw him crash out on the first lap.
"It was a bad finish to the weekend, "said Clark, "I think it's fair to say I found the jump tough. Handling the power and utilising the extra grip was a real challenge. Unlike the Superstock bike, where my times normally progress at a comfortable pace throughout the weekend, the Supersport bike was something else.
"Phil and the team did everything they could to help but it was unfortunate that this weekend just wasn't to be."
The team is now looking to recruit a new rider to compete aboard the Linxcel Seton Tuning Yamaha R6 Supersport machine, the performance of which has already been proven with multiple pole positions and very quick speed trap times. As of the next round, Nick Clark will continue his assault of the Superstock 600 Championship.
Not all was lost for the team during the day's racing, as the team's other Superstock 600 rider, Josh Wainwright, had a stormer of a weekend, beating his best qualifying and race finishing positions, qualifying 10th on the grid and finishing in 12th place.
The team made some great headway with the setup of Wainwright's machine to enable him to finish in the top 12.
The Linxcel Seton Tuning team will be at Croft for round ten of the British Supersport Championship on Sunday 13th September.
The Linxcel-Seton Tuning would like to extend their gratitude to the following companies for their support in the 2009 season.
