Round 12 Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship - Oulton Park Webb in the points for Linxcel-Seton Tuning Yamaha
Oulton Park played host to the final round of the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship, which saw James Webb score three points for the Linxcel Seton Tuning race team.
Having set the fastest lap time during the previous race meeting earlier in the year at the same circuit, the team was hoping for a good result to cap off their season.
Team manager Phil Seton said: "We were really hopeful we could continue from where we got to in the previous round. We formulated a plan for James, setting up two bikes, one with his previous setup and the other with Hudson Kennaugh's setup from when he rode the bike at Oulton in May.
"James went out in the practice sessions but, unfortunately, had a couple of offs, meaning we didn't get a lot of track time in before the weekend's one-and-only qualifying session."
Webb went out into the qualifying session on the machine setup from the previous round at Oulton Park but it this setup didn't work for James.
James Webb said: "Qualifying was difficult as the bike setup just didn't work out for me so on Saturday night we all sat down and made some massive changes to the machine.
"During Sunday's warm-up, the bike felt great and I was confident for the race that I could make up some good places to get a result for the team."
The race saw Webb make up ten places to finish in a credible 13th position. He said: "Thirteenth place isn't really where I wanted to be but there's no doubt we could certainly have qualified on the second or third row had we not had the bad luck during practice. If we had done, a top six finish would certainly have been on the cards."
Phil Seton said: "Although we didn't finish inside the top 10, it was a good result for us. Now, we can turn our attention to next year where we plan to run two riders in the British Supersport Championship and two in the Stock 600's."
In the British Superstock 600 class, Josh Wainwright recorded a 9th place finish having carved his way through the pack from 23rd on the grid.
"Josh has got some great results recently. His goal for this season was to finish a race in the top 10 and now he has achieved this so we are very happy."
Both Wainwright and the team's other Superstock rider, Nick Clark, have been offered rides with the team for next season though Nick won't be able to contest the Stock 600 due to age restrictions.
